A young man has been compensated for damage to his phone after it was snatched by a monkey in a monkey park in Benxi, Liaoning Province, and was smashed to the ground on October 4.

An adult monkey escaped from its cage in the park to beg for food among the thick crowds of tourists that morning. When visitors began feeding the monkey, the young man took out his mobile phone to take pictures of the scene.

Things turned sour when the monkey heard the phone's camera shutter sound effect, and it rushed toward the man and grabbed the phone before returning to its cage.

Park employees were called to help, and they began trying to convince the monkey to give back the phone. The monkey suddenly released the phone, sending it down a more than 10-meter drop before it hit the ground.

The man then asked the park to pay for his phone, and took his receipt of purchase to the park. In the end, the park paid the man in full for his phone, and repaired the monkey's cage.
