A total of 1,317 corporate jets making overseas trips landed or took off from Shanghai's two major airports in the first three quarters of this year, a 14.2 percent year-on-year increase, according to the local border inspection authority.

The figure represents a seven-year high. In total, 7,084 passengers traveled on these aircraft.

Corporate jets from the US made up 36.7 percent of the total traffic. Jets from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao accounted for 18.6 percent, according to the Shanghai Airport Frontier Inspection Station.
