A blast rocked Qalat city, the provincial capital of southern Afghan province of Zabul Saturday morning, leaving injuries, local media Tolo News reported.

"The explosion, obviously targeting a security forces' convoy, took place near a school in Qalat city at around 9:30 am local time, wounding several people," said the report.

The nature of the blast is not known at this span of time.

No one has so far claimed credit for the blast, though the bombings bear the hallmark of Taliban insurgent group.
