Sany takes brave stand against US

On September 28, US president Barack Obama blocked Ralls Corp, an affiliate of China's largest machinery maker, Sany Heavy Industry Co Ltd, from investing in the US wind market, citing national security concerns. Sany responded to this news on October 1, when it accused the Obama administration of treating Chinese companies unfairly in the US market. Yet, the company said they "have confidence in the American legal system".

Sany's actions to fight back against the harsh resistance it has received in the US should be commended. More Chinese companies should be courageous enough to speak out against the unfairness that greets them when they seek to develop their businesses overseas, and more domestic enterprises need to learn how to explore legal avenues to handle disputes in the toughening international market.

The Chinese government should also come forward to support enterprises when they run into barriers overseas.
