Indonesia has increased budget for infrastructure by 20 percent to 213 trillion rupiah (some $22.153 billion), local media quoting a minister said Tuesday.
Indonesian Finance Minister Agus Martowadojo quoted by Antara news wire as saying that the House of Representatives (DPR) had supported for a 15 percent rise in power tariffs.
If the power tariffs are raised and electricity subsidy will not mismatch the target, the spending may increase to 213 trillion rupiah, he said after attending a meeting with the DPR's budgetary body at the parliament building.
"In general, this is a good step. I hope it will be approved at a plenary session," he said.
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono expects an annual economic growth average of 6.6 percent by his second term in 2014 through building massive infrastructure projects.
