Born in Detroit in 1947, the former governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney is the son of a former governor of the Michigan.

After graduating from Brigham Young University in 1971, he earned dual degrees from Harvard Law and Harvard Business School.

He has worked as a missionary, consultant and entrepreneur.

After working as a business consultant for several years, Mitt Romney founded the investment firm Bain Capital in 1984.

Romney was credited with revamping the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, when the event had been bogged down in a bid-rigging scandal, sponsors were fleeing, and the budget was bleeding red ink.

He is the richest candidate on the 2012 campaign trail with a net worth between 190 million and 250 million dollars.

Mitt Romney first ran for presidency in 2008 when he lost the Republican nomination to Sen. John McCain.

He married his wife, Ann, in 1969 and they have five sons and sixteen grandchildren.
