Another batch of 49 Filipino workers will be repatriated from strife-torn Syria on Friday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Thursday.

The DFA said in a statement that the latest batch of overseas Filipino workers bring the total number of returnees to 2,930.

The DFA said that the airfare of the 49 Filipino workers was paid by the International Organization for Migration.

As of November 6, the Philippine government said 192 Filipinos are being given refuge by the Philippine Embassy in Damascus, Syria while their repatriation is being processed.

The overseas Filipino workers were repatriated due to the escalating violence and worsening security condition in the troubled Middle Eastern country.
