Myanmar President U Thein Sein Thursday announced amnesty of 452 more remaining prisoners including foreigners, according to an official report.

The amnesty was given for the sake of "establishing stability of the state and eternal peace, on humanitarian ground, for turning them into citizens who do their bit in nation building task realizing sympathy and goodwill of the state and for prolonging friendship with neighboring countries", the New Light of Myanmar quoted the President's announcement as saying.

The government will extradite the foreign prisoners, the announcement added.

Under the amnesty order, the 452 prisoners from various jails across the country are expected to be released soonest.

The amnesty for the remaining prisoners is seen as part of the government's continued democratic reform and it also came four days before the US President Barack Obama is to pay a historic visit to Myanmar on next Monday.

The amnesty is the seventh granted by the president to prisoners in the country since the new government assumed office on March 30 last year.

In the sixth amnesty in September this year, 514 prisoners were freed.

The present amnesty has brought the total number of prisoners pardoned to 29,470 since the new civilian government was installed.

Meanwhile, in August, the government lifted 2,082 out of 6,165 black-listed persons in line with the government's current reform policy.

The lifting of the once black-listed Myanmar nationals, some of whom hold foreign citizenship, would encourage and enable them to return to Myanmar in light of Myanmar's political and economic reform process.
