General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping's speech was warmly received yesterday. He put forward that the country's goal is to fulfill people's expectations for a better life. His speeches on China's problems, especially on corruption, have displayed the sober mind and sincerity of the new leadership and enhanced public's confidence to deal with China's difficulties.

President Hu Jintao no longer serves as the chairman of the CPC Central Military Committee. This consolidates the success of the leadership transition and further institutionalizes the system. Xi spoke highly of the previous generation of leadership last night.

The results of the 18th Party congress and the solidarity of the Party have strongly impressed global public opinion. Optimism over China's future is prevailing. China is entering a golden age with rising social confidence and solidarity. There will be a passion for reform in every field and mobilizing these will help China take the next step.

We believe that the new CPC Central Committee has a broad strategic vision as well as the required persistence to solve problems. China's development led by the CPC has given a great boost to livelihoods. This will also be of great geopolitical significance in the Asia-Pacific region and the whole world.

We hope the Central Committee will continue to be the core around which the entire Party can unite. No matter what obstacles lie ahead, a united China can overcome them. China stands in a position that cannot be shaken by external forces.

It is also hoped the new Central Committee can display the courage needed to advance reform, particularly on curbing corruption. Continuous reform and development can secure the country's stability in the long run. With the determination and firmness showed in the 18th Party congress, we believe this will prove to be true in the next five to 10 years.

The unity and progress of the country need to be complementary with the support of a diversified society. Activists that advocate social diversification should also treasure the unity a diversified society offers.

The report to the 18th Party congress and General Secretary Xi Jinping's address yesterday highlighted the determination and urgency of the Party to tackle various issues. This sentiment echoes in society. A few people claim that only the people, and not officials, are concerned by the country's problems. This is not a true reflection of Chinese politics.

Reform is the consensus of the country at every level. The pace at which to progress with reform forward depends on the will to change, but relies more on the material accumulation and support of the surrounding environment.

We are at an encouraging starting point. Let us move on to carry out the dreams of several generations of Chinese people.
