Iranian Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani said Western countries seek to overthrow the Syrian government with the aim of weakening the resistance front, Press TV reported Thursday.

"The problem of the US and the West (with Syria) is not ( Syrian President Bashar) al-Assad's government alone. They also have problems with the resistance front (against Israel)," Amoli- Larijani was quoted as saying on Wednesday.

Praising Syrian government's resistance against what he called the "foreign plots," he said the interference of the Western countries and certain Arab states in the Syrian crisis has complicated the situation in the country.
