A student faced a felony charge after he discharged a semi-automatic pistol Monday inside a classroom with students at a high school in the US state of Texas, local media reported.
No one was injured in the 11 a.m. shooting at Spring Woods High School in the Houston-area, according to the website of The Houston Chronicle.
The student, 15, has been charged with possession of a firearm at school, which is a third-degree felony, and was to be transferred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department, said local police officer Chuck Brawner.
Police recovered a semi-automatic pistol from the student, who declined to tell officers where he got the weapon or why he brought it to school, according to the report.
About 25 students and an instructor were in the classroom when the shooting occurred, officials said. The bullet reportedly hit a door.
The students were immediately provided assistance from staff and social workers, and their parents were notified of the shooting, officials said.
