An investigation has been launched by the commission for discipline inspection in Gaomi, Shandong Province, after an online posting by a now regretful 25-year-old man claimed that he had sexual relations with a male deputy head of the local agricultural bureau, the publicity department of the city's Party committee confirmed to the Global Times Sunday.

Wang Xian, who posted the entry on the forum section of the Jinan-based news portal dzwww.com Friday morning, accused Nie Yujie, 47, of seducing him and then ignoring him as their relationship became increasingly passionate.

Wang said in the post that he met Nie while chatting on QQ in July. After three months of friendly chats, Nie asked to meet Wang at a hotel in Weifang, some 75 kilometers from Gaomi, where Wang said he was coerced into having sex with Nie.

Wang told the Global Times he now regrets posting details of his affair with Nie. He said he had sex with Nie five times, and was only coerced in the first time. "Nie is like a father to me. There are feelings there."

Wang said he was upset after he thought Nie was not taking their relationship seriously. "I was angry and so I posted everything online to scare him and get him back. I didn't expect it would go this far."

Wang also disclosed in the post his ID number, which suggests he is from the city of Nanyang, Henan Province.

"There is a deputy director named Nie Yujie in the city's agricultural bureau," Wang Hui, a press officer from the publicity department, confirmed to the Global Times, adding that the results of the investigation will soon be made public.

The city government's website said Friday that the investigation had started.

"I was planning to take responsibility by telling the discipline inspectors that the posting was not true, but I was told that Nie had already admitted to our relationship," Wang said. "I regret the damage that might be brought to Nie now."

It is not known if Nie is married but an extramarital affair would likely result in his dismissal.

Wang's original claim, which was reposted by the China News Service's official Sina Weibo, was forwarded more than 1,200 times as of Sunday. Some netizens thought Wang had attempted to blackmail Nie. However, Wang told the Global Times the online speculation was wrong.

Coincidentally, the city of Gaomi has also been in the news recently as the hometown of Mo Yan, the 2012 Nobel literature laureate.
