A six-storey building in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province suddenly collapsed on Sunday, killing one person and trapping another in the debris.

The woman was buried for more than 22 hours before being rescued on Monday morning, when she was rushed to hospital, Xinhua reported.

The residential building in Ningbo's densely-populated Jiangdong district fell around noon. Built in 1989, the structure was home to a total of 18 families.

@haysen_BH4RMZ: In China, homeowners can only own residential property for only 70 years. That doesn't really seem to be a problem, because with the poor quality of construction, buildings here don't last 70 years.

@俗不可耐-哈利路亚: Is it because somebody was jumping up and down in their house?

@tossking: As for today's building quality, I'm afraid a lot of collapses like this one will probably happen in the next few years. It's simply not acceptable that some officials have the power but are not held accountable when accidents like these happen.

@折戏生涯: Authorities should thoroughly investigate the accident. If we do not even feel safe at home, how can we have a normal, comfortable life?
