Police are still investigating why a husband strangled his wife in Pudong New Area Sunday night.

The man, in his 50s, worked as a garbage truck driver at a sanitation station. Neighbors told police that the couple had been in a fierce argument on the night of the murder, Xinmin.cn reported.

The man planned to commit suicide after the murder but was stopped by the police. Neighbors said the couple had been considering getting a divorce.
