Yemen's Red Sea Customs on Tuesday seized 115 kg of cocaine which were hidden in a sugar shipment from Brazil, official Saba news agency reported.

The customs officers of the port city al-Hodayda detected a sign in one of 120 containers of the sugar shipment in a routine search earlier this week and discovered the bricks of cocaine wrapped in four sport bags inside the marked container, Saba reported.

Both recipients and the drugs were turned over to the attorney general for further investigation, according to the report.

The smuggling attempt registered the largest amount of drugs foiled by the Yemeni security authorities in the past 20 years, the report said.
