A seminar was held Friday to pay tribute to Lin Junde, an explosion mechanics scientist who was involved in nearly all of China's nuclear tests.

The seminar was jointly hosted by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) General Political Department, the PLA General Armament Department and Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Chinese President Hu Jintao, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, has called for learning from Lin's outstanding achievements as well as his sense of dedication.

Lin, an academic at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, had spent 52 years working in the Gobi Desert, participating in nearly every nuclear test conducted there.

Lin received more than 30 science and technology awards over the course of his career, including several from the government and the military.

Lin died on May 31, 2012 at the age of 74.
