China's Foreign Ministry on Monday condemned recent armed attacks in Central African Republic, calling for a ceasefire and a peaceful solution to the country's crisis.

At a daily press briefing, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Hua Chunying said China is concerned about the deteriorating situation in Central African Republic.

As of 2 p.m. on Monday (Beijing time), Chinese embassy in Central African Republic assisted 239 Chinese nationals in the nation to evacuate to neighboring countries or return to China, according to Hua.

She stressed that peace and stability is very precious for the war-torn country.

Hua said that China supports the efforts made by the African Union, relevant regional organizations and countries for a peaceful solution and welcomes the agreement that relevant parties in the country will hold talks in the near future.

China hopes that relevant parties will immediately cease fire and stop the violence, peacefully resolve the crisis through political dialogue, the spokeswoman said.

She noted that China is ready to work with the international community to help Central African Republic to restore peace and stability.

The Chinese government has taken emergency measures to help Chinese citizens in Central African Republic leaving the country, in order to ensure their safety. It will continue to provide assistance for Chinese citizens in the country, Hua said.
