Myanmar's President U Thein Sein Saturday held meeting with delegation of ethnic armed group of Kayin National Union (KNU), led by its newly elected chairman, General Mutu Say Poe, in Nay Pyi Taw, official sources said.

It was the second time of meeting between U Thein Sein and KNU delegation, the sources said.

The KNU delegation also met with Minister of Commerce U Win Myint and Minister of Mines Dr.Myint Aung.

In April, the set-up of KNU's liaison offices in Myeik, Dawei district in southern Taninthayi region came days after holding meeting between KNU and U Thein Sein as well as leader of the National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi for the first time in Nay Pyi Taw.

The Myeik Liaison Office represents the second next to that set up in Kyaukkyi, Toungoo district of Bago region.

Peace talks between Myanmar government's peace making group and the KNU delegation at central level were held in Yangon in the same month, in which some 13 points were reached.

KNU is seen as the biggest anti-government ethnic armed group in Myanmar's Kayin state having fought the government for over six decades.

So far since the president's peace offer was extended in August last year, a total of 10 armed groups have respectively signed preliminary peace agreements with the government at state or central level.
