China's meteorological authority issued a yellow alert on fog shrouding the country's central and eastern regions on Sunday.

The fog will decrease visibility to within 1,000 meters in some parts of Beijing, Tianjin and Chongqing municipalities, as well as provinces of Hebei, Henan, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Hunan, Guizhou, Yunnan and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Sunday morning, the Central Meteorological Center said.

Plain areas in north China, regions along the Yellow and Huai rivers, the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and south China will see haze on Sunday, the center said.

On Monday, light and moderate snow will fall in northern parts of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with some areas expecting heavy snow, the center said.

Meanwhile, a cold front will lower temperatures by four to eight degrees Celsius in China's northern and eastern regions from Sunday to Wednesday, the center added.
