A CCTV journalist admitted on air Monday the capital's dusty air caused his severe skin allergies and have since cleared up ever since he left Beijing for Britain.

London-based journalist Tang Xiangwei said his doctor diagnosed he was allergic to dust mites and the fine particles in Beijing air agitated his condition.

Tang explained that his eyes and whole face would swell during the worst bouts with his allergy, for which he took medication.

Tang later said that after living in London for two years, his skin condition has improved and he has not used his medication for a year.

@空灵拳: I'd rather choose to live in Beijing. Living here for a long time improves our immunity. If terrorists want to attack people in Beijing with chemical and biological weapons, it might not work.

@真理在中国: The worst thing is not the smog, but the people's indifference toward it.

@鞭影: It's understandable that some allergies or minor respiratory issues improve in a place where the air is cleaner.

@夏岩summer: I think we shouldn't be oversensitive. People's constitutions are different and hard to compare. Not everybody's faces in Beijing is swollen.

@love年轻的心: In the past, London was also often covered in smog. But today's London is totally different. We've been warned before that the expense of dealing with pollution will be several times our GDP. All of us are responsible for today's environment.
