Indonesian Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy Mari Elka Pangestu said that Indonesia expected to attract over 900,000 foreign holidaymakers from China this year, higher than 600,000 in the previous year.

Minister Pangestu said that her ministry would continue to make efforts to increase the inflow of foreign tourists to Indonesia.

"We are optimistic that around 9 million foreign tourists will visit Indonesia, and 10 percent thereof are expected to come from China," she was quoted by Antara news wire as saying.

"In order to attract more Chinese tourists to our country, the government will operate direct flights between Jakarta and Beijing five times a week. In addition, there will be flights serving the Jakarta-Shanghai and Jakarta-Guangzhou routes every day," Mari said Tuesday night.
