Geely Englon SC6 awarded "CCTV Small Passenger Car of the Year"

On January 19, 2013, results of the Eighth CCTV China Automobile Award were announced officially. The Geely Englon SC6, with high configuration price ratio, comprehensive and balanced product quality and care for family happiness, gained the Award of CCTV Small Passenger Car of the Year after a fierce competition.

The CCTV China Automobile Award is one of the most authoritative, professional, and popular car appreciation activities. The activity follows the objective criteria like "power, operation, fuel economy and safety" and subjective criteria like"brand image, styling, comfort". Experts defined the final list by selecting from more than 100-odd new models and voting for the excellent cars based on their test outcomes. The whole selection activity is precise and professional, providing a level play ground for every candidate and distinguishing homegrown brands like the Geely Englon SC6 and the Great Wall New Haval H from their counterparts.

In the evaluation stage, SC6 impressed many car experts and journalists with its powerful design, smooth control, and lots of high configuration that never equipped in cars of the same price. Even  the same level of foreign models can hardly compared with SC6 in terms of configuration. "The SC6 gives a perfect interpretation to the concept configuration price ratio with extraordinary performance, which owes much to its offering good car purchase solutions for ordinary wage earners", said one judge on the spot.

Englon SC6 hit the market on September 6, 2012. With  "family car" as its starting point, the  model takes into account of the multifaceted needs of family cars, focusing on "high-configuration, high-security, high-quality, high-protection" of the product, and builds the image of "King of Configuration "as soon as it was sold on the market.

Besides configurations fitted in its peers of the same class, the SC6 also owns 15 "luxurious" accessories including light delay system, keyless entry, GPS navigation system, visual reversing system and TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system), making it the actual "King of Configuration" among economical family sedans. The only difference is that its price is fully affordable by ordinary wage earners.

Liu Jingliang, Vice President of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group and General Manager of Geely International Corporation, said in an interview, "the Englon SC6 cares 'families' and 'happiness' of wage-earners. It is a brand new 'family car' that meets these consumers' actual needs of buying and using cars. Under the guidance of 'Quality Geely'strategy, both configuration and product quality of the model are excellent."

Since Geely undergoes the strategic transformation period of "Quality Geely", "improving product strength and product quality" has become its new strategic thinking to develop and make new models. In 2012, the company gained remarkable achievements in areas including car safety and R&D of core components. For example, the first Geely's SUV the Gleagle GX7 gained five-plus-star rating in the 2012 C-NCAP crash test; Geely Emgrand released the 2013 Emgrand EC8 based on new high-end models building concept at the end of last year; and the recently held all models test drive activity for promoting the 6AT (6-speed automatic transmission), all these are demonstrations of Geely's efforts in improving product quality.

 "In 2012, the company has made great achievements in technology, R&D, and has also made a breakthrough at the market level. For example, sales of the new Gleagle GX7 continued to grow, and it won many car evaluation awards from the media and other authoritative organizations. All these are enthusiastic salute to Geely's product quality," Liu said.

Geely's delivered an annual sales performance of more than 480,000 units, increasing 15 percent compared with the same period of last year, and exceeding the expected sales target. These achievements are inseparable from the automaker's clear strategy of "Quality Geely" and its significantly improved product quality. Meanwhile, Geely also sets a good example to other self-owned brands with its success that product quality must come first before an automaker can improve its brand competitiveness.
