Alitalia airlines company announced Saturday to suspend flights between Libya's capital Tripoli and Rome on Feb. 15-17, as a precautionary measure ahead of the second anniversary of the outbreak of the Libyan turmoil.

Rome has announced last month that it had closed its consulate in Libya's eastern city of Benghazi temporarily due security reasons, after the shooting incident against the car of Consul Guido De Sanctis.

Lufthansa and the Austrian airlines have suspended their flights last week due the security situation in Libya.
