Georgia beat Portugal in Nations Cup rugby match

Hosts Georgia on Saturday defeated visitors Portugal in the 2012-2014 European Nations Cup rugby division A second rounder, which the Georgian Lelos won 25-12.

The Georgians led the first half 7-3.

It was Georgia's second consecutive victory in this tourney. The Georgians, beating the Belgians in Brussels 17-13 on Feb. 2, now trail the Romanians who also won two games in succession.

Romania and Georgia led the six-team round-robin tournament which also includes Russia, Belgium, Spain and Portugal.

The South Caucasus country of Georgia has won the European Nations Cup five times and are the defending champions.

The European Nations Cup is the second tier rugby championship in Europe below the Six Nations Championship.
