Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast reiterated Tuesday that any negotiations with the United States under pressure will bear no result.

It is natural that in the negotiations when the talking side does not have sincerity and does not intend to cooperate with good will, and at the same time the talks claim is accompanied by pressure and threat, there will be no result, Mehmanparast told a weekly press conference, referring to the recent talks offer by Washington with Iran over the country's nuclear issue, which was followed by the new round of sanction pressures against the Islamic republic.

On Feb. 2, US Vice President Joe Biden said that the United States is prepared to hold direct talks with Iran when the Iranian leadership is "serious."

Meanwhile, White House spokesman Jay Carney said that "That pressure will continue (against Iran), and it will increase, as long as Tehran refuses to live up to its international obligations with regards to its nuclear program."

On Feb. 6, the (Barack) Obama administration expanded the US sanctions on Tehran by tightening up economic measures and adding more names to its blacklist.

Asked how the United States can show its good will to Iran, Mehmanparast said Tuesday that if the United States drops its hostility against the Iranian nation, the Islamic republic will consider their move.

Iran insists on the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, while the West regards it as a cover for making nuclear weapons.
