Two Taliban militants were killed and three police personnel sustained injuries as clash flared up in a far-flanged checkpoint in Daikundi province 290 km west of Afghan capital kabul on Monday, provincial governor Qurban Ali Uruzgani said.

"A group of Taliban rebels raided a police checkpoint in Kajran district late Monday night and police returned fire killing two attackers on the spot," Uruzgani confirmed to Xinhua.

Three police constables have also sustained injuries in the clash, he added.

He also admitted that sporadic fire exchange is still continuing in the area between police and the attackers, adding reinforcement has been sent to evict Taliban militants.
