Afghan forces backed by the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) raided a house in Kunduz province 250 km north of Kabul on Thursday killing four Taliban and arrested three others on Thursday, police spokesman in the province said. "Acting upon intelligence report, the Afghan and international coalition force raided a house in Khawja Ghaltan area in the outskirts of provincial capital the Kunduz city early in the morning today leaving four Taliban rebels dead and arrested three others," Sayed Sarwar Hussaini told Xinhua.

He also confirmed that two policemen were also killed in the firefight lasted for few hours.

Meantime, some locals insist that the victims are civilians, a claim rejected by Hussaini as groundless.

However, ISAF in a statement released here confirmed the operation, adding an Afghan and coalition security force arrested six insurgents during an operation in search of an Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) leader in Kunduz district, Kunduz province, today.

Taliban militants fighting Afghan and NATO-led troops are yet to make comment.
