Dongcheng district court sentenced a man to 10 months in prison for faking and selling tickets for the Forbidden City, the Beijing Morning Post reported Thursday.

The man, surnamed Wang, sold tickets to the Forbidden City to a guide of a tour group on May 17 last year at a lower price. Ticket inspectors found the tickets were fake.

Wang was arrested in the afternoon and police discovered materials used to make fake tickets as well as more than 1,000 tickets for scenic spots, including the Summer Palace, in his residence.

The fake tickets were worth more than 40,000 yuan ($6,408).
