A total of 143,819 couples registered for marriage last year, down 2.91 from 2011, local authorities said Wednesday. Meanwhile, 43,964 couples got divorced without going to court, up 13.16 percent. The figures showed that locals have been getting married later in life. Last year, the average age of a newly married man was 32.92, up from 32.4 in 2011. The average age for a newly married woman was 30.3, up from 29.89.
