Thousands of Egyptians held protests in the capital Cairo on Friday in support of the armed forces against alleged attempts to Islamize the military by the Muslim Brotherhood, affiliated with President Mohamed Morsi.
The protesters gathered near the Memorial of Unknown Soldier in the capital's Nasr City, raising signs and chanting statements against the Muslim Brotherhood and what they described as " Islamist-dominated rule."
Some protesters called on the army not to leave Egyptians like "prey" to the Muslim Brotherhood, and to take over power that has been dominated by the Islamist group.
The protesters also demanded the government to destroy all border tunnels between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
