Australia swept the 2nd International Surfing Association (ISA) World Standup Paddle and Paddleboard Championship, after winning nine of 12 gold medals, held in La Pampilla beach in Lima.

From Feb. 25 to March 2, the Australian surfers dominated the competitions and won the team's gold medal with 26,100 points, beating Russia (22,824), Peru (22,375) and France (20,666) and other teams.

Australians Lincoln Dews (men) and Jordan Mercer (women) became champions of the paddleboard technical race competitions, clocking 25:33 minutes and 31:55 minutes respectively.

In the paddleboard distance race, Australian Brad Gaul won the men competition with a time of 2:44:12, while Jordan Mercer won the women's in 2:52:47.

Sean Poyntier, from the United States, won the men's sup surfing competition with 17:83 points, while Brazilian Nicole Pacelli won the women's category with 13:17.

In the sup racing distance competition, Australians Jamie Mitche won men's category in 2:32:01 and Angela Jackson won women's class in 2:54:08.

The Australian team also won the relay competition.

The great summery weather and the 3.5-meter waves of La Pampilla beach in Lima, were a perfect scene for the surfers to show their best performance, despite the fog that some days delayed the beginning of the competitions.
