Indonesia, South Korea aim to boost ties through cultural cooperation

The governments of Indonesia and South Korea plan to step up cultural and art cooperation which is expected to help boost bilateral ties, Antara news wire quoting official reported here on Wednesday.

South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Kim Yeon Seon said that the cultural and art cooperation was an effective way to bring the bilateral ties to a higher level.

"Indonesia and South Korea have unique cultures and art works, so that we can have cultural exchange to enhance our partnership," he said.

The ambassador also noted the significant role of the two countries' youths to develop their home culture and then participate in enhancing the ties between the two countries.

To reach the goal, he said that both countries have established the Indonesian, Korean Friendship Association (IKFA) which facilitated the people from the two countries to contact through culture, art and economy approaches.

The ambassador said that the diplomatic policy from South Korea to Indonesia following the inauguration of new President Park Geun- hye will not much change, and the arrival of Indonesian Vice President Boediono in Seoul has marked the close ties between the two countries.

"Indonesia is a valuable partner for South Korea, so we do hope we could enhance and develop our cooperation," said Kim on Tuesday.
