Deputies to the 12th National People's Congress (NPC) will give their votes on the candidates of China's leadership for a new term of five years on Thursday, and the NPC's smooth process has shown a mature system of the country's leadership shift, an expert said.

A name list of candidates for China's top leadership positions was finalized Wednesday afternoon, according to the Presidium of the First Session of the 12th NPC.

The name list of candidates for leaders and members of the NPC Standing Committee, president and vice-presidents of the State, and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China (PRC) will be put on voting at a plenary meeting of the NPC session on Thursday.

On Friday, deputies will vote on the premier candidate and the vice chairpersons and members of the Central Military Commission of the PRC, the president of the Supreme People's Court and the procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate.

China's leadership change has been smooth and shows the country's leadership shift mechanism is mature, Zhang Weiwei, a senior research fellow at the Center for Asian Studies in Geneva, told the Global Times.

"This year's two sessions made true of the achievements of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, showing the country's certainty to the world," Zhang said.
