Indonesian Agriculture Minister Suswono was questioned by investigators at the country's anti- graft agency Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday over allegation of his possible involvement in a corruption case related to beef import licenses.

"KPK invited me for questioning as a witness for four suspects in the beef import case," the minister told reporters upon his arrival in the agency's office here.

The KPK had already declared suspects against several people in the case, detaining four including former Justice Prosperous Party President Luthfi Hasan Ishaq.

Suswono said that he did not have further data related to the case that can be shared with the KPK.

"I have told the KPK the fact as what I previously explained. I am not involved at all in the case. The case has no link with me," the minister was quoted by the Antara news agency as saying. The Agriculture Ministry is authorized to issue licenses for importing beef for domestic needs.

The minister is a member of the PKS party. The questioning he attended on Thursday is the second one, with the first questioning in February this year.

The case made headlines as it involves Luthfi Hasan Ishaq, who is also a legislator in the parliament. He allegedly received bribery amounting to 1 billion rupiah (103,000 U.S. dollars) from businessmen trying to obtain the beef importing license.

The businessmen, who run the beef importing firm PT Indoguna Utama, were promised to get an import quota of 8,000 tons on the condition that they pay a so-called commitment fee totaling 40 billion rupiah ($4.1 million).
