When the Apple bites back

On CCTV's "3.15" special investigative program broadcast on Consumer Rights Day on Friday, the malpractices of some companies and their unqualified products were exposed, but some allegedly shady dealings from the show itself also drew attention. After the show tried to put the knife into Apple over double standards on their post-sales service and discrimination against Chinese consumers, actor Peter Ho put an angry post on Weibo slamming the US company. The message, posted at 8:20 pm, said, "How could Apple play such tricks in its post-sales service? As an Apple fan, I'm hurt…Post this at around 8:20." Web users pointed to the last sentence as proof of some kind of setup, alleging that Ho did this either at the request of CCTV or another cell phone company. The post was soon deleted. At 22:00, Ho claimed that his account had been hacked and he didn't write the post in question. Apart from Ho, famous bloggers Zheng Yuanjie and Liu Jishou are also accused of being involved in the comments-for-cash scandal after writing several negative posts on Weibo against Apple. What do Weibo users think of the "Ho-gate" affair?

@Xian Ren Zhi Lu 010: Come on, Peter Ho! CCTV's 3.15 show gave you a simple task. They wrote the Weibo post for you and instructed you to post it at 8:20. The money was just a click away. What an easy task! But you didn't even read the content and blew the whole thing! So, should CCTV pay you or not? Apple is not for you to bully. Thanks to Jobs, you are cursed!

@Soledad Horse: Tonight's 3.15 hit out against company corruption. But the most fraudulent thing at the end of the night was the show itself. Oh CCTV, can't you try and find some intelligence from now on?

@Jun Zizizizi: It's time for Ho to find another public relations team. His agent acted so stupidly that I wonder if they have any intelligence or not. Post this around 22:30.

@Mo Chujun: Stars should take some nutrients for their brains. Next time, after copying, pasting and posting, don't paste anything that shouldn't be there.

@Yun Bi Dao Ge: Damn! Even Liu Jishou is compromised! I think his bribe won't be less than Ho's. The authorities have finally learned to use Weibo as a tool.

@ANU_CAIS_LXY: This year's 3.15 show is so different from the ones before. People no longer blame the companies exposed on the show, people blame the show itself. First, they chose their revelations carefully. They found some scapegoats rather than the real deal. Second, companies can pay their way out of these exposures. (Just look at who made those commercials.) Third, thanks to the brainless team of Ho, many more are exposed.

@Zhang Puzi: I would say that Ho must be someone hired by Samsung to bring down Apple and CCTV.
