Budget airline Jetstar Japan plans to establish this summer a second base at the Kansai International Airport (KIX) in the western Japanese prefecture of Osaka in a bid to increase its international and domestic routes from western Japan, local press reported on Friday.

The low-cost airline, a joint venture between the Qantas Group, Japan Airlines and other local companies, will use KIX as its second hub following the launch of Tokyo-Narita-based services in July last year, according to Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK), Japan's public broadcaster.
