Venezuelan Acting President Nicolas Maduro Wednesday met with a delegation of Russian officials in the southwest Tachira state to review bilateral accords on energy and trade.

During the meeting, the representatives of the two governments discussed joint energy, gas and housing projects, Maduro said in a state-run VTV television broadcast.

The meeting marked the second time in a month that Maduro has met with representatives of the Russian government.

On March 8, Maduro met in Caracas with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin, who also heads the state-owned oil company Rosneft.

Maduro is in Tachira, accompanied by Vice President Jorge Arreaza, for an election rally in the leadup to presidential elections on April 14.

Russia aids Venezuela in oil production, gas, agriculture, housing, military defense equipment and the transfer of industrial technology.

Venezuela has been exporting to Russia orchids, fruits, vegetables and seafood since a joint company was established in February 2012.
