A comprehensive strategic partnership, bilateral ties and personnel exchanges will be the major topics that French President Francois Hollande will discuss during his first official visit to China later this month, visiting French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Friday at a press conference in Beijing.

Fabius earlier met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, State Councilor Yang Jiechi and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Hollande will be the first state leader from a Western country to pay a visit to China since the new Chinese leadership took office and there have been adequate preparations to ensure the visit is successful, Fabius said.

"There are a variety of activities on the list of President Hollande's visit and a series of important agreements will be signed," Fabius said.

When asked about the trade deficit between France and China, Fabius admitted there was indeed a trade imbalance between the two countries, but that it should be addressed through growth by boosting two-way investment and enhancing further trade.
