At the 76th Congress of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) on Wednesday, Zhang Haifeng, president of China Sports Journalists Association, was elected vice-president of AIPS. Zhang won 88 votes from a total of 101 to become the first AIPS vice-president from China in the nearly 90-year history of the AIPS.

AIPS President Gianni Merlo, unopposed for the position, was unanimously reelected at the congress.

The AIPS Congress is being held in Sochi, the Russian city where the 2014 Winter Olympic Games will be held.
