Two representatives of Libya's southern tribes signed a reconciliation document in the capital Tripoli on Saturday.

Under the theme of "reconciliation in the South for Libya," a reconciliation conference was convened by the general chief of staff, reconciliation committees and southern tribes, in the hope of achieving a reconciliation deal among those tribes and an agreement of peace between the Toubou and the Sons of Sulaiman tribes.

At the conference, Chief of Staff Yousef al-Mangoush said that what is happening during this transitional period in Libya is almost "the hardest challenge" throughout its modern history.

To achieve reconciliation is "the beginning of the right way to a new Libya," said Mohamed Magreif, head of the General National Congress.

At the end of the conference, two representatives of the southern tribes signed a reconciliation document, which states disarming and forgetting about the fighting in March 2012 that had caused a lot of casualties in the two tribes.

Prime Minister Ali Zaidan said his government hopes that this reconciliation will be a successful start to build Libya.

Some participants were not satisfied with the parties that signed the document, while Misurata representatives left the conference hall for they were not mentioned in the reconciliation deal.
