A 5.3 magnitude quake jolted an area between the city of Tongliao in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the city of Fuxin in Northeast China's Liaoning Province at 5:11 pm Monday, according to a notice by the China Earthquake Networks Center late Monday.
The epicenter, with a depth of six kilometers, was monitored at 42.9 degrees north latitude and 122.4 degrees east longitude, the center said.
The epicenter is some 80 kilometers from downtown Tongliao in Inner Mongolia.
