Three people were killed and six others injured when an unidentified armed group attacked a passenger bus at Al-Salam locality in South Darfur State on Wednesday evening, Sudanese Media Center reported Thursday.

"The group obstructed a bus with 42 passengers on board as it was heading to Tulus from Nyala , which resulted in the killing of three people and injuring of six others who were transferred to Tulus hospital for treatment," the media center quoted Al-Mahi Abdul-Aziz, commissioner of Tulus locality, as saying.

He added that the security authorities were still pursuing the perpetrators, noting that the state government would work to reactivate a joint security plan to secure the road between Al- Salam and Tulus localities.

On Tuesday, the Sudanese Army said it had killed three rebels of the Darfur rebel Sudan Liberation Army (SLA)/Minni Minnawi faction in South Darfur State after clashes renewed between the two parties, according to the official Sudanese radio.

The radio quoted Sudanese army spokesman Al-Sawarmy Khalid Saad as saying that the army would continue pursuing the rebels and the combing operations until peace prevails in all the states of Darfur.

A number of Darfur rebel movements, including the Justice and Equality Movement, the SLA/Minni Minnawi and the SLA/ AbdulWahid Nur, reject to negotiate with the Sudanese government.

These movements have recently formed an alliance with the Sudan People's Liberation Movement/northern sector to topple the government in Khartoum.
