Cambodian PM meets senior Chinese political adviser to boost economy, tourism

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday met with Edmund Ho, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and discussed the further expansion of bilateral ties in economic,trade and tourism.

Speaking at the meeting at the Peace Palace, Edmund Ho, who is also chairman of the Global Tourism Economy Forum, said his visit to Cambodia was to further promote China-Cambodia relations and cooperation, particularly between Cambodia and China's Macao.

Meanwhile, he invited Hun Sen to deliver a speech at the Second Global Tourism Economy Forum to be held in September in Macao.

Hun Sen accepted the invitation and promised to arrange his schedule to join the forum.

The premier said Cambodia and China's Macao have much room to broaden cooperation in economy, trade and tourism and asked Edmund Ho to encourage more Chinese to come and invest in Cambodia, especially in tourism.

He said the country wanted to see a direct flight between Cambodia and China's Macao to promote all-round cooperation.

Edmund Ho arrived in Cambodia on Saturday for a four-day visit. During his stay, he had visited Angkor Wat temples, a World Heritage Site in northwestern Siem Reap province.
