Shanghai plans to train 8,000 part-time employees to evaluate the financial losses and damages caused by natural disasters, the city's civil affairs bureau said Monday.

The employees will collect information from and inform residents about disaster loss and prevention. When natural disasters occur, the employees will determine total financial losses as soon as possible to ensure that residents get assistance as soon as possible.

This Sunday marks National Disaster Risk Reduction Day.
