Around a hundred people gathered on May 8 outside a shopping mall in Beijing's Fengtai district where police reported finding a 22-year-old woman surnamed Yuan dead, refuting that she committed suicide and urging authorities to investigate further into the matter.

Police were dispatched to control growing crowds near the Jingwen Clothing Mall, where Yuan was an employee, according to a Sina Weibo post by the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau on May 8.

The crowd pressed police to continue their investigation into her cause of death.

According to police, surveillance video captured Yuan entering the mall on the evening before she died and claimed there was “nothing unusual” about Yuan’s corpse, without revealing further details.
