Kazakhstan will launch its third KazSat satellite in 2014, which will be able to offer telecommunication services to neighboring countries, according to the head of its national space agency (Kazkosmos) Talgat Musabayev.
"The KazSat-3 satellite will be simultaneously a reserve and operating device which will ensure continuous functioning of the satellite system. In addition, two satellites will be able to satisfy the needs for a radio-frequency resource for all Kazakhstan, and will probably provide satellite services for part of Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Russia and Uzbekistan on a paid basis," said.
Musabayev, in an interview published on the prime ministerial website, said the KazSat-3 would be launched on a Russian Beam spacecraft in the first quarter 2014.
He said the KazSat series' main goal was to meet the full needs of national communications operators and broadcasting.
