Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that he held the Syrian government responsible for the deadly bombings that killed at least 46 people in a town near the Syrian border.

On Saturday, car bombings shook the town of Reyhanli, leaving at least 46 people dead and over 100 people wounded.

In press statements, Erdogan said the Turkish government has obtained enough evidence suggesting that the Syrian government is behind the bombings.

The deadly attack was planned by the Syrian government's " extensions" in Turkey, Erdogan said.

As for the Turkish response to the bombings, he noted that Turkey would not "fall into traps but will give the necessary response whenever needed."

"We would never shy away from this. Everyone should know this," Erdogan added.

Earlier, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay said an initial investigation revealed that the fatal attack, one of the most serious in recent years, are linked to Syria's intelligence agency.

Turkey has arrested nine Turkish citizens for their alleged involvement in the bombings.

Syrian Information Minister Omran Zubi, however, on Sunday denied any Syrian involvement in the attack and rejected what he called "unfounded accusations."
