The US special representative on North Korea Glyn Davies will visit China on Wednesday, Hong Lei, spokesman with the foreign ministry, said Tuesday.
"China has maintained contact with the other members of the Six-Party Talks regarding the current situation on the Korean Peninsula, as well as how to achieve permanent peace there," Hong said. The talks, a negotiation mechanism that consists of North Korea, South Korea, the US, China, Japan and Russia, were launched in 2003 but stalled in December 2008. The North quit the talks in April 2009.
