All flights bound for Chongqing returned to their airports after Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport received a phone call threat at around 6:30 pm on Friday. The airport delayed its flights in order to conduct a security check and normal operations resumed at 7:50 pm.

On Friday afternoon, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport also received an anonymous phone call saying that there were bombs in a Spring Airlines plane flying from Guangzhou to Shanghai, which forced the plane to touch down in Fuzhou, Fujian Province.
