Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos on Friday expressed his intention for another term, although his official decision to run for re-election would not be announced until November in accordance with the country's laws.

"I will be respectful of the rules and, only at the right time will I announce my decision," said Santos, who hoped that many of his government policies would continue after his first term ends on August 7, 2014.

"I hate to see positive changes halt," he said.

Since Santos assumed office as president of Colombia on Aug.7, 2010, a total of 1.7 million people have shaken off poverty, and evil forces such as criminal gangs and narcotics-terrorist groups have been undermined. Peace talks between the government and the guerrilla group have also been underway, which is decisive for the country's future, Santos said.

Santos also announced the expansion of an organization known as "Good Government Foundation"by adding five more people. The organization, set up in 1994, served as a platform for Santos to win the 2010 elections.
